OVERVIEW

Enjoy 4 days safari in Selous game reserve which is located 5 hours drive from Dar es Salaam city center, Selous game reserve covering 50,000 square km, is among the largest protected area in Africa and relatively undisturbed by humans. Selous is rich in elephant, cheetah, giraffe, hippos and crocodile, and many other species. The reserve also has an exceptionally high variety of habitats including Miombo woodlands, enjoy game drives and boat safari at the park while overnight stay in mid range lodge or camps.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous game reserve

Pickup at your hotel in Dar es salaam drive to Selous game reserve 5 hours drive, enjoy landscapes and features of the country while you are driving, arrive at camp for hot lunch then enjoy boat drive where you will be able to see crocodiles and hippos, dinner and overnight at Selous Kinga lodge.

Day 2: Game drive in Selous game reserve

After breakfast from the lodge with packed lunch, enjoy game drive inside the park expect to see large number of animals like lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, hyena and etc. You will also see a large variety of birds, wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. During afternoon you will take your lunch and have some rest before proceeds with the game drive and overnight at Selous Kinga lodge.

Day 3: Game drive in Selous

After breakfast from the lodge with packed lunch, enjoy last day game drive inside Selous game reserve with the great chance to see animals which you didn’t see in previous day, take your lunch during afternoon then proceed with game drive dinner and overnight at Selous Kinga lodge 

Day 4: Selous to Dar es Salaam

Early morning walking safari usually starts at 6 am or 6.30 am after first-morning tea or coffee, accompanied by an armed ranger, and it will take around 2-3 hours long. After enjoying your breakfast in the morning, check out, then begin the drive back to Dar es salaam for the drop off at your hotel or airport

The dry season of July through October is the best time of year for the greatest overall concentrations of game in this park when wildlife congregates around the lakes. However, do not underestimate this park at any other time outside the rainy season of April & May as game viewing is very good in various areas throughout the year. Nyerere is quite safe to visit. Crime against visitors is rare in Tanzania and the little crime that does occur mostly happens in major urban centers, similar to the rest of the world. Camps and Lodges in Nyerere National Park have night guards who patrol the property and keep the vicinity safe. During the day, your Safari Driver-Guides would typically guide you on how to approach the wildlife in the safest way, either on your game drive or your walking safari.
